Bladder fullness
The first scan of the female subject aged 37, was made with an empty bladder. The second was obtained with a very full bladder.
|
The plot on the right was made immediately post-void. Looking at the central image shows that E-DIS might indicate bladder fullness. |
Currently we are not sure if the effect observed is specific to female anatomy. The uterus is on top of the bladder and this might be what is being observed, see next section. With repeat scannings and additional experiments we hope to explore this noted abdominal effect further..
Menstrual cycles
Using E-DIS 2, abdominal scans of a female subject were made at the commencement and mid-point of her menstrual cycle. The image on the left, below is the results of a mid-cycle scan, whilst the right hand image was obtained one day after commencement of menstruation on the same subject. Similar results were found on another occasion.
This, along with findings in the previous section, suggests that E-DIS methods are able to detect something about what is happening within the body (physiological processes rather than anatomy) and we hope to follow this aspect up with the new scanner, confirming results on other females and demonstrating that the effect is not present on males.
